This page and its sub-pages tell you everything you need to know about how Simple Scaling Ltd protect the personal data we process and control relating to you (“your personal data”; “your data”) and which rights you have in relation to the processing of your personal data. We comply with the UK GDPR, the Data Protection Act 2018, and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

1. The type of Information we collect

We receive, collect and store any information you enter on our website or provide us in any other way. This may include your name, email address, phone number, job title and company; information about your business that you share with us or provide through one of our online assessments; your marketing preferences; and records of your communications with us. We also collect the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet, and technical and usage information such as page response times, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information, and the methods used to browse away from the page.

2. How we collect information

When you fill in a form or sign up to a newsletter on our website, or complete one of our online assessments, we collect the personal information you give us such as your name and email address. Your personal information will be used to contact you by email or phone if you have shown interest in our services, or to send you a newsletter, event invitation or thought leadership article that you have opted in to receive, or that we send to existing business contacts on the basis of our legitimate interests. If you no longer want to receive information from us, please unsubscribe from any email or contact enquiries@simplescaling.com.

We do not buy, rent or scrape contact lists, and we do not sell your personal data. We do share data with the trusted service providers who help us run our business, as described in section 3.

For which purposes and on what legal basis do we use your personal data?

Simple Scaling uses your personal data only where required for specific purposes, and always with a lawful basis under the UK GDPR. See below:

Managing our relationship with you

Delivering the service or information you requested, including assessment results, and managing our contractual relationship. Necessary for the performance of a contract to which you are a party, or your consent.

Marketing our products and services to you

Sending insights, event invitations and updates on our programmes. Based on your consent where you opted in online, or our legitimate interests in marketing relevant services to existing and prospective business contacts, in line with PECR. You can object at any time.

Facilitating communication with you

Providing you with requested information and responding to enquiries. Justified on the basis of our legitimate interests for ensuring proper communication within the organisation.

Operating and managing our business operations

Justified on the basis of our legitimate interests for ensuring the proper functioning of our business operations.

Undertaking data analytics

Applying analytics to our website to analyse performance and provide a better experience. Justified on the basis of our legitimate interests, or your consent via cookies.

Complying with legal requirements

Necessary for the compliance with a legal obligation to which we are subject.

Where will your data be processed?

Your data is processed in the UK and, in some cases, by service providers located outside the UK (for example in the European Union or the United States). Where personal data is transferred outside the UK, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or Addendum, or a UK adequacy decision, so that your data receives an equivalent level of protection.

How long will your personal information be retained by us?

We will retain your personal data only for as long as is necessary. We maintain specific records management and retention policies and procedures, so that personal data are deleted after a reasonable time according to the following retention criteria:

  • We retain your data as long as we have an ongoing relationship with you (in particular, if we are providing services to you).
  • We keep marketing data while it is relevant, and remove it on unsubscribe or on request.

3. How we store, share and disclose your personal information

Our website is built on WordPress, and our domain and hosting are provided through GoDaddy, which stores your data on secure servers behind a firewall. To run our business we also share personal data, under contract, with trusted third-party providers who act on our behalf, including Pipedrive (customer relationship management and email campaigns), Mailchimp (email marketing), ScoreApp (online assessments and scorecards) and Microsoft 365 (business email). We may also disclose personal data where required by law, to our professional advisers, or in connection with a business sale or reorganisation. We do not sell your personal data.

4. How we communicate with you

We may contact you to notify you regarding your relationship with us, to troubleshoot problems, to resolve a dispute, to collect fees or monies owed, to poll your opinions through surveys or questionnaires, to send updates about our company, or as otherwise necessary to enforce any agreement we have with you and applicable UK law. For these purposes we may contact you via email, telephone, text messages, and postal mail.

5. How we manage cookies

We use cookies for a variety of reasons to make our website work, remember your preferences, and understand how the site is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings and, where shown, our cookie banner. Disabling some cookies may affect how parts of the site function. It is recommended that you leave cookies on if you are not sure whether you need them, in case they are used to provide a service that you use.

We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here that it has been updated, so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we use and/or disclose it.
